Colleen Schneider was as high as a +400 underdog entering her shot at Tonya Evinger and the bantamweight title at Invicta FC 17. She came up short, but showed enough to suggest she may have deserved a little more respect at the sportsbooks.

Schneider (10-7) was game for five rounds against Evinger (18-5) never backing down from her more experienced and accomplished opponent. However, Evinger simply had more tools available as she repeatedly used trip takedowns to grind away for a unanimous decision victory.

The bout was the main event of Invicta FC 17 from The Hangar at OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif. The entire event streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

As is her way, Evinger spent the fight looking to throw everything she had at her opponent. By the end of the fight, the champ was punching Schneider’s hamstrings because they were the only thing available to be hit.

For all her effort, Schneider was unable to make much of a dent on the judges’ scorecards, losing by scores of 49-45, 50-44 and 50-44.

Evinger is now riding a nine-fight winning streak and is ranked No. 8 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA women’s bantamweight rankings. It would be little surprise if the UFC finally came knocking.

Hill captures strawweight belt in thrilling battle

Angela Hill (5-2) lost a pair of tough fights in the UFC and found herself looking for a new cage in which to ply her trade. Now, with a three-fight winning streak, she’s a champion.

Hill took the strawweight belt off the waist of Livia Renata Souza (9-1) in a wild bout in the co-main event of the evening. The two women battled on the feet with Hill tagging Souza with big shots only to repeatedly see the script flipped when the Souza was able to take the fight to the ground.

Hill managed to fend off seemingly deep choke attempts repeatedly and looked to have improved significantly on the ground, never panicking and always looking to find a safe position rather than immediately attempting to rush back to her feet.

Her patience paid off as she was able to seemingly wear down Souza heading into the championship rounds.

Souza almost finished the fight twice in the final moments of Round 5, locking in a guillotine choke and then an armbar, but Hill’s ability to survive once again let her advance to the judges’ scorecards where she won the split decision by scores of 48-47, 47-48 and 48-47.

Tommy Dreamer y Broken Matt Hardy se enfrentarán en el primer combate de jaula de la historia de la promoción el viernes

El próximo viernes 16 de diciembre la promoción americana House Of Hardcore celebrará su evento número 22 en el Arena Philadelphia, de Philadelphia. El show se podrá ver en vivo mediante formato IPPV en floslam.tv

Broken Matt Hardy se enfrentará a Tommy Dreamer en un “Steel Cage Match”. Será la primera vez que se celebra este tipo de combate en House of Hardcore. Además, Sami Callihan se enfrentará a Brian Cage en un “Philadelphia Rematch”, y John Hennigan se medirá a Fenix.
